Help us care for our shelter animals until they find their forever homes...

OVER 28,000 ANIMALS SAVED SINCE 2001!

All you need to provide is a loving home, the willingness to give

them the extra attention that they need and keep in touch

with us to tell us how they are doing in your home environment.

Food, medications and vet bills are all included when you foster an extra special pet.

Shelter life is stressful and can have a detrimental effect on the health and happiness of a homeless animal.  Help us give them a second chance to thrive and grow in a stress-free environment of a loving home.

Why should I foster an animal?

Fostering a dog or a cat is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have (other than adopting, of course). By taking an animal in need temporarily into your home you’re:

     •     freeing up a spot so the shelter can take in another animal.

     •     giving your foster animal the time it needs to be ready for adoption.

     •     helping the shelter learn more about the animal so we can find the best possible home.

     •     socializing the animal to a home environment and possibly getting them used to being around other pets and different types of people.

What does fostering  involve?

When you foster, you agree to take a homeless pet into your home and give him or her love, care and attention, either for a predetermined period of time or until the animal is adopted.  The shelter provides their food and any needed medications needed.

What additional responsibilities will I have if I become a foster?

All that we ask is that you observe the animals behavior while living in your home.  Take notes about their experience around people, kids, other animals etc. and take a few photos of them interacting with your family.  Then share your notes and photos with us so we can help find them a home.  That’s it!

Sammie's Friends always needs foster homes for some of our extra special animals, such as puppies, kittens, senior dogs, senior cats and pets with special needs.
